How we handle a migration

The key is testing everything at the new destination before the final switch.

Our website and hosting migration process, step by step
  1. Step 1: Inventory

We review the site, domain, email, and everything that depends on the current server.

You: share access to the hosting and domain.
You get: an inventory and migration plan.

  2. Step 2: Copy and setup

We copy the site to the new destination and configure it.

    You: keep operating as usual.
You get: a site running at the new destination.

  3. Step 3: Testing

We test pages, forms, payments, and speed before the switch.

You: review the site at the new destination.
You get: sign-off for the switchover.

  4. Step 4: Switchover and follow-up

We switch DNS at the agreed time and monitor the following days.

You: let us know about any issues.
You get: a completed migration and report.

Improvised migration vs. planned migration

Most migration problems come from skipping steps.

Improvised migration vs. planned migration
Aspect Improvised Planned
Email Messages get lost during the switch. Migrated or set up before the DNS switch.
Downtime Hours or days. Minimal or none.
URLs Broken links if the structure changes. 301 redirects for every URL.
Rankings It may go down. Preserved.
Rollback No plan B. Full backup and rollback plan.

When it makes sense to migrate

Rebrand or domain change

A new brand that needs a different domain without losing what you’ve built.

Website and hosting migration FAQ

Will my site go offline?

Usually not, or only very briefly. We set up and test the site at the new destination before switching DNS, and we pick a low-traffic window.

What happens to my business email?

We include it in the plan. If your email is on the same hosting, we migrate it or help you move it to a dedicated email provider before switching DNS.

Will I lose my rankings?

If only the server changes, it shouldn’t be affected. If URLs or the domain change, we set up 301 redirects and notify Google of the change through Search Console to keep what you’ve earned.

Can you migrate from Wix or other website builders?

Yes, although those platforms don’t let you export the full site: we migrate the content and rebuild the design on the new platform. It’s a good opportunity for a redesign.

Can you help me choose the new host?

Yes. We recommend options based on your type of site, expected traffic, and budget.

What else is website and hosting migration called?

People also search for it as a hosting change, website transfer, or domain and email migration. It’s related to responsive design, WordPress, on-page SEO, hosting and domains, page speed, and the WhatsApp button, topics we review with you when your project needs them.

Can’t find your question?

Which of these services do you need?

Hosting and support are related services, but they solve different problems. Choose based on what you need.
